The end-user license agreement (EULA) governing your use of the TapeVault application, separate from your billing subscription.
Subject to your active, paid subscription (or active free trial) and compliance with this Agreement, 주식회사 베테랑아이티 (Veteran IT Co., Ltd.) ("Licensor") grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable (except as permitted in Section 1.1), revocable license to install and use one copy of TapeVault ("Software") on one Windows computer at a time, for your internal business or personal archive-management purposes.
1.1 License transfer. You may transfer your license to a different computer by deactivating it on the original machine and activating it on the new one. Simultaneous activation on more than one machine under a single license is not permitted.
You shall not, and shall not permit any third party to:
The Software is licensed, not sold. Licensor and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights. No rights are granted to you other than as expressly set out in this Agreement.
This license is effective for as long as your subscription or trial remains active. It terminates automatically if your subscription lapses (there is no automatic renewal — see the Terms of Service) or if you breach this Agreement. Upon termination, you must stop using the Software; local data already stored in your TapeVault catalog database remains yours and accessible in read-only mode as described in Section 7.
Licensor may release updates, patches, or new versions of the Software from time to time. Updates may be required to maintain full functionality and may be subject to additional or updated terms, which will be presented to you at the time of update.
The Software may interoperate with the following third-party components, each governed by its own license, independent of this Agreement:
| Component | Purpose | License |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg / FFprobe | Video thumbnail generation and media metadata extraction (invoked as a separate system process; not bundled or redistributed as part of the installer) | LGPL v2.1+ / GPL, depending on the build installed by the user |
| Electron | Application shell / UI runtime | MIT |
| Python runtime & libraries (e.g. psutil, xxhash) | Backend archive engine, drive detection, checksum | Various OSI-approved licenses (BSD/MIT/PSF) |
Nothing in this Agreement limits the rights granted to you under any applicable open-source license for these components. Where required by such licenses, corresponding source code or license texts are available on request at support@tapevault.net.
All catalog data, metadata, thumbnails, and files you archive using the Software are created and stored locally on your computer (or on the LTO tapes and local archive paths you configure). Veteran IT does not access, transmit, or store this data. Tape data is written in the open, cross-platform LTFS format, so it remains readable by any LTFS-compatible software even if your license expires.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. LICENSOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT DATA LOSS WILL NEVER OCCUR. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING INDEPENDENT BACKUPS OF CRITICAL DATA. Nothing in this Agreement excludes warranties that cannot be lawfully excluded under applicable consumer protection law.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LICENSOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE. LICENSOR'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY UNDER THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts having jurisdiction over Seocho-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea, except where mandatory local law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence.
